I am both a graphic designer and illustrator. Design is what I studied in school and my first passion, while Illustration is something I've always loved but only recently found my voice in. When you add animals to the mix, together they become my dream job. I have made my career out of graphic design for close to 20 years, the past 11 of which have been for Woodland Park Zoo, in Seattle, WA. During that time, I have had the fortune to grow the zoo's brand with the help of a talented team of creatives with whom I manage. I take pride in telling the zoo's story with original illustrations, strategic problem solving, and clean, innovative aesthetics.
Before working at the zoo, my experience as a designer exposed me to a wide variety of environments including a full-scale marketing firm, a small design boutique, and other not-for-profit organizations. With clients large and small, public and private, I take great pride in being detail-oriented and hands-on through the entire life-cycle of a project, making sure that the best product is produced every time. I have a unique perspective on design, and my main goal is to have fun while providing professional experience, strategic execution, and resonating outcomes.
As an illustrator, I am drawn to beauty and aesthetics. I want to find peace within art and I do so through nature. Flowers, animals, and landscapes inspire me, and it is in those subjects that I like to explore different all sorts of different styles.
If you are in need of help, I do both freelance design and illustration. I am always looking for new opportunities to express my passion for both and I would love to work with you. It would be a pleasure and a privilege to bring your vision to life! To learn more about what I can do for you or your brand, please contact me at misty.starfire@gmail.com
